1. Breckenridge, Colorado


This historic mountain town was just magical during this month — peak ski season meant fresh powder, snow-dusted streets, and a festive, winter-wonderland vibe. The quaint Main Street glowed with lights, cozy après-ski bars buzzed, and it felt like the ultimate snowy escape in the Rockies.
I flew into Denver International Airport (DEN), drove 1 hour 45 minutes, and spent four blissful days and I timed my trip for the magical International Snow Sculpture Championships and I found out that small-batch focused Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywine Festival also took place this month.
I spent the rest of my time carving runs at the world-class Breckenridge Ski Resort, warming up by the fire at the quirky historic Gold Pan Saloon and dipping into the cozy Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House for multiple Roasted Toasted Almond Lattes.

I timed my trip with the star-studded Palm Springs International Film Festival and the buzzing weekly VillageFest night market which was filled with crafts, art, food, and live music.
I drove two hours from Los Angeles and spent a blissful week hiking the switchback-filled Bump and Grind Trail, shopping along boutique-filled El Paseo, and floating blissfully at the zen-like Desert Serenity Float & Spa.

I loved having easy parking and skipping the shuttle system, which made exploring stress-free.
I drove 2.5 hours northeast from Las Vegas and spent four tranquil days at the Insta-worthy Zion Wildflower Resort. I flew into Miami International Airport (MIA) and spent a dreamy week soaking up seven hours of sunshine a day, lazing on the golden sands of glamorous South Beach, exploring the pastel Art Deco Historic District, strolling the mural-dotted Little Havana and Wynwood Walls, and dining alfresco along lively Ocean Drive.

It was peak humpback whale season (November–April), so I had great chances for sightings, and I even caught the indie-focused Kona Surf Film Festival which featured ocean-inspired films and music.
I flew into Kona International Airport (KOA) and spent a sunny week snorkeling with manta rays at reef-fringed Keauhou Bay, lounging on lively Magic Sands Beach while gorging on sugar-dusted malasadas, touring a Kona coffee farm, exploring lava-rock framed Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, heading out on a magical whale-watching boat trip.

With hardly any tourists and great accommodation deals, it felt wonderfully peaceful. I even joined the White Sands Full Moon Hike and attended the Tularosa Basin Museum’s History Talks to hear local stories and see regional artifacts.
I flew into El Paso International Airport, drove 1.5 hours, and spent a short break split between the quirky Classic Desert Aire Hotel and camping in the park. I also squeezed in discovering the loop-style Dune Life Nature Trail, sledded down soft gypsum dunes, and joined a photo-worthy ranger-led sunset stroll.

I walked the salt flats at the otherworldly Badwater Basin and Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, watched sunrise at the breathtaking Zabriskie Point, drove the rainbow-hued Artist’s Palette route, and hiked the striking Golden Canyon.

Calm seas made the 2.5-hour ferry ride from Key West smooth and scenic. After a luxe stay at the stylish Santa Maria Suites Resort, I went full contrast with two nights of remote camping – the ultimate switch-up! I snorkeled colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, explored the massive brick walls and moat of historic Fort Jefferson, lounged on the white sands of the tropical Garden Key, and spotted brown noddies and pelicans.

I caught the Tucson Jazz Festival’s world-class performances, the fun Dillinger Days with vintage cars and reenactments. I flew into Tucson International Airport (TUS), spent five sunny days at the funky 4-star Eddy Hotel, explored the historic Presidio District and lively Fourth Avenue, hiked among towering cacti in the tranquil Saguaro National Park, and admired the city’s adobe-walled Spanish Colonial and Mexican architecture.
