Japanime Art Gallery Tokyo | Tokyo Cheapo
Japanime Art Gallery Tokyo is a must-visit for anime fans. Here, you’ll find prints, hand-drawn cels, figurines, and more.
What to expect
Stepping into Japanime Art Gallery Tokyo, it’s easy to see why they opened the additional outlet in November 2025. Offering a potent hit of nostalgia, when the previous sakura-themed store opened in May 2025, it quickly became a popular go-to for fans looking for original hand-drawn animation cels, anime and manga prints, and other collectibles. Now, the new wisteria-themed store offers all of that and more.
Overflowing with rarities from popular series like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball and lesser-known niche titles, the Japanime store has attracted fans from Japan and around the globe, so much so that they needed to source a new store three times bigger than its predecessor!

Japanime’s staff are all pros when it comes to anime and manga, but unlike some other fandom-oriented spots around Tokyo – we’re looking at you, Ikebukuro — the vibe at Japanime is free of pretension and exclusivity.
No matter your level of anime and manga knowledge, Japanime’s staff are happy to chat, whether you’re buying for yourself, a friend, or a family member, or just taking in what’s on display.
Both an art store and a gallery, the team provides a space where people can appreciate anime and manga as art, and they achieve this with some of the best hand-drawn pop culture from the last several decades.
Like any good gallery, Japanime offers full consultation on their art, and regular staff speak English, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Original hand-painted animation cels
Japanime’s speciality, the store sources some of the industry’s rarest hand-painted animation cels from auctions, exhibitions, and private collections around the world.
Some of the store’s rarest items have included an original My Neighbor Totoro animation cel hand-painted by Hayao Miyazaki himself in 1986. All original hand-painted animation cels come framed and with a certificate of authenticity.

Reproductions
The store also has a massive collection of digital reproductions of animation cels and original manga art, including ultra-rare limited-run prints. All of their limited products come with an item number and a certificate of authenticity.
Limited posters, figures, pins, and postcards
On top of the store’s anime and manga prints, Japanime also has an ever-growing collection of promotional artwork, posters, figurines, and other merchandise that’s hard to find anywhere else.
Worldwide shipping and tax-free
Japanime offers worldwide shipping on all of its products. You can also order online and pick up from the store. They also offer shipping between their Kyoto and Tokyo stores, and they offer tax exemption on all of their products for tourists.
