Top 15 Cool And Unique Hotels In Copenhagen
Wherever you stay, you will live the fairy tale in the utopia-like capital of Copenhagen. From my many trips to this elegant city (one of my favorite cities in the world!) and staying and trying out many hotels, here is the final collection of my favorites…
1. Hotel Axel
I loved this eco-friendly boutique in hip Vesterbro because its Scandi-meets-Balinese décor—carved teak furniture, softly glowing lanterns, rattan accents, and a warm sandalwood incense scent—gave it a romantic, sanctuary-like vibe that felt far more like a serene boho retreat than a typical Copenhagen hotel!
My compact but beautiful Superior Double Room came with four-poster teak bed, wide-plank oak floors, exposed brickwork Persian rugs, and a minibar which came with organic sea-salt kale chips. I dined on freshly baked sourdough in the all-organic restaurant, sipped on rooibos tea in the the zen courtyard garden, took out the bamboo-framed loaner bikes, and relaxed with a lava-stone back ritual in the atmospheric spa!

2. Manon Les Suites
This unique all-suite gem actually felt like being dropped into a tropical rainforest lagoon in the middle of Copenhagen, with its dramatic jungle-lined atrium and an insanely photogenic turquoise pool framed by bamboo, palms and ambient music!
My gorgeous Superior Suite came with a teak four-poster bed draped in gauzy white curtains, geometric cushions, dark-teak furniture, a matte-black vintage phone, a sleek kitchenette, and eco-friendly iLoveEcoEssentials. I relaxed on the floating daybeds, hit the sauna and gym, tucked into organic granola breakfast and headed up to the rooftop for vegan caviar at the Asian-fusion restaurant by Michelin-starred Nan Kanokwan Kortaisong.

The quirky glass panel in my suite looked straight into the greenery below, and with the warm, humid air drifting up and the faint sound of water from the atrium giving it an unique ‘tropical treehouse’ feel!
3. Carlton 66 Guldsmeden
I really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful boutique in trendy Vesterbro – it was a striking blend of Scandi-chic design and boho Balinese touches with a soulful, calm vibe, carved teak accents, woven rattan lamps, hand-dyed textiles, and cosy eco-luxury feel.
My room had a handcrafted four-poster teak bed, organic cotton bedding, hardwood floors, a balcony, a Persian-style rug, iLoveEcoEssentials toiletries, and a cute tray of organic snacks, and the quirky highlight was the rustic stone basin on a chunky teak slab and the bamboo-framed rain shower that looked made for Instagram.
I started my day with the all-organic breakfast at 66 Cantina, grabbed snacks and cocktails later on, and adored the retro Airstream campervans in the courtyard that doubled as quirky guest rooms. I also loved the candlelit spa with its cedar-scented sauna and hot tub where I sipped organic ginger tea and fully unwound.

- I loved their organic open-faced sandwiches which they served from their cafe – I opted for the tofu and veggies one which was delicious!
4. CPH Living
I found this unique floating hotel moored in a prime location on the Port of Copenhagen. It had a typical Danish design and the vibe was relaxed and low-key. I was an affordable option, and I found it was decorated to a mid-range level.
My room/cabin had minimalistic decor with hard wooden floors and my favorite, large floor-to-ceiling windows so I could gaze at the water the whole time I was in there.
Other amenities included a workspace, heated floors, and a flat-screen TV and I thought the large communal seating area was great for connecting with other guests.
My other highlights included its geothermal heating system, the awesome rooftop terrace which came with relaxing sun loungers, and the loaner bike service.

5. 25hours Hotel C Indre By
I found this central 4-star boutique located near the iconic Nyhavn harbor! I thought the interiors, designed by London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, were unique and vibrant, with a striking blend of colors and vintage prints. I liked that vibe was trendy but not intimidating, which is just how I found the staff too!
My themed room featured sloping roofs, large windows, lots of funky design details, modern amenities and even came with a private garden!
I dined at the Mediterranean restaurant on-site, sipped on botanical cocktails at the bar, enjoyed live music at the trendy Boilerman Bar, and then took a relaxing sauna!
Aside from the loaner e-bikes, my favourite feature was the Vinyl Room, where I span retro records from the 1980s!

- Dining on a braised aubergine kebab fresh from the charcoal grill in the onsite restaurant!
6. Scandic CPH Strandpark
I thought this place was a stunner! I found Scandinavian minimalism mixed with a sleek, coastal-inspired design, featuring natural wood finishes, soft neutral tones and stunning waterfront views. I really liked its zen-like tranquility and staff who were always keen to help!
My stylish room had large windows with sea views, a huge plush bed, retro-chic furniture and a Chromecast TV. I also found a modern gym, a buffet breakfast, and a restaurant that offered a menu focused on healthy and sustainable options – I couldn’t get enough of the Danish organic fries!
I found it in a quiet waterside location near Oresund Bridge in Kastrup, Copenhagen, right by the Øresund Strait. It was just a few minutes from Copenhagen Airport and a short metro ride to the city center.
As well as the quiet lounge bar, the modern Nori spa which came with a plunge pool, sauna, and steam bath. I adored the trendy rooftop Skybar, which served a great range of drinks, both indoor and outdoor seating, and breathtaking 360-degree views.

- Renting a kayak from the hotel reception and exploring the gorgeous neighbouring waters!
7. Babette Guldsmeden
This was a fabulous eco-friendly 4-star gem! I found striking Scandi-chic interiors mixed in with exotic Balinese-inspired touches and cosy nooks and crannies. The vibe was trendy but also informal, and I loved how the service was super-personalised.
My uniquely styled room had hard wooden floors, a romantic wooden 4-poster bed, original artwork, and organic toiletries. Some of the rooms were very compact, so I’d suggest a superior double as I saw that these did offer more space.
I found it located in the Østerbro district, near Kastellet Fortress and The Little Mermaid. I also really liked its serene orangery and courtyard, Babette’s Feast restaurant with organic and locally sourced cuisine (I recommend the fresh pike fillet with nettle sauce!), the organic wine and cocktail bar, and the fabulous rooftop. The spa had a fabulous Finnish-style sauna, a daring cold-water bucket bath, and an aromatic steam bath!

- All the thoughtful details – I even found a i love eco essentials organic cucumber cloud room spray in my guest room.
8. 71 Nyhavn
I found this charming 5-star boutique was tucked away in Nyhavn’s famous District! The overall feel inside was very much typical of the Danish “hygge,” but it also had lashings of nautical nostalgia and stylish Scandi design details, too.
I stayed in a room in the Red Warehouse (the older of the two joined buildings which made up the hotel), which featured characterful wood beams, a luxury bed, a Nespresso Machine, cosy bathrobes, a turndown service and sublime harbour views. I saw that some rooms were very compact, but the east-facing Junior Suite was really spacious!
I ate an organic breakfast washed down with fair trade coffee in their old warehouse cellar dining room and tried their creative cocktail list, too.
My favourite highlight was trying their personal guide service and renting a bike to explore the city, which was right on my doorstep as it enjoyed a superb central location!

9. Bryggen Guldsmeden
I was a huge fan of this Insta-worthy 4-star boutique! I was really enchanted by the design which was Nordic-meets-Bali, which created a luxurious vibe without feeling pretentious, and the staff couldn’t do enough to help me either!
One of my favourite parts was the zen-like courtyard garden, which had cabanas and a heated swimming pool. My guest room was also dreamy, with chic hard wooden floors, a four-poster bed, and floaty fabrics. It came with organic toiletries and hypoallergenic linens. I saw that some rooms were very compact though but others were much more spacious.
I found other amenities included a 24-hour concierge service, a fitness center, a cosy restaurant serving French-inspired cuisine, an organic buffet breakfast with plenty of vegetarian options (I loved their acacia honey!), a trendy bar, a shared lounge, a steam room, and that Nordic essential—a sauna!

10. Coco Hotel
I thought this 4-star, eco-friendly boutique was very elegant! It had a unique style that mixed Parisian charm with a Danish aesthetic and a sleek, upscale vibe with attentive staff to match!
My room was decorated in their signature blue and white style and came with a flatscreen TV with cable channels, a large bed, a well-designed workstation, and funky wall art! I saw that the rooms on the higher floors had sloping windows and stunning views of the city skyline.
I loved its hip location in the Vesterbro, a trendy neighborhood filled with cool cafes, boutique shops, and lively nightlife. I was just a short walk from Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen Central Station, and the city’s main attractions.
I started the day with a light Pain au chocolat breakfast at Cafe Coco, which was washed down with a “Slayer Expresso,” it also offered organic lighter bites in the day. I also really liked its wine bar, which had a choice of over 30 wines, including organic options and sitting in their courtyard while sipping on hand-crafted cocktails!

11. Hotel SP34
I was really wowed by this stylish boutique hotel! I found it combined Scandinavian minimalism with a bohemian edge, featured earthy tones, raw materials like wood and leather, stylish mid-century furniture, and a cosy yet modern and hip atmosphere.
My Nordic-inspired soundproofed room had hardwood floors, designer toiletries, and a cable TV and I took advantage of their quirky nightcap service! I saw that rooms were very compact but mine was moderately spacious.
They served an organic breakfast with gluten-free and vegan options, and I was a huge fan of their homemade smoothies and the port wine and organic lager in their stylish lounge bar!
I also loved the choice of no less than three stylish restaurants, the lovely rooftop terrace, and my personal favorite, their in-house retro-style private cinema where I sat and watched classic films!

12. The Alexandra Hotel
I thought this eco-friendly was a retro-design haven! Inside I found striking midcentury modern interiors which U thought really captured the essence of the 1950s and 1960s. The vibe was hip but laid-back, and the staff was trendy, too!
My large soundproofed room had an individual Danish design inspired by famous 20th-century designers. It also came with hardwood floors, retro furniture, and an iPod dock. I saw that the impressive Collector’s Suite came with a truly Insta-worthy design and garden views!
I found it located in the of the city so I was just a short walk from City Hall Square, Tivoli Gardens, and Strøget as well as excellent shopping, and dining.
My other favorite highlights included the self-serve Honesty Bar (I really loved this cute touch!), the Vietnamese Le Le Street Kitchen which was attached to the hotel for both convenient dining and breakfast, and their Tiger Bar which served champagne and creative cocktails.

13. Andersen Boutique
I really enjoyed staying in this 4-star affordable boutique hotel! The award-winning Designers Guild designed the interiors and I found a retro-inspired design with funky patterns and lashings of very bright colors. I found the vibe to be fun but relaxed and intimate too, with friendly staff.
My guest room was spacious and soundproofed with funky retro-chic, a hardwood floor, a coffee machine, Molton Brown toiletries, and a TV with cable channels. I also had an interesting street view which gave me some incredible people-watching opportunities!
I really liked its central location in the hip Vesterbro district which was just a short walk from Copenhagen Central Station, Tivoli Gardens, and the Meatpacking District as well as trendy cafes, bars, and cultural hotspots.
My other favorite highlights included their loaner bikes service, the cute courtyard outdoor seating where I sat and chatted to other guests, a bar that served handcrafted cocktails, a hearty buffet breakfast, and complimentary Nespresso coffees.

- Sipping on a Cabernet Sauvignon in their fun daily early evening wine hour held in their lobby bar – I got chatting to loads of fellow guests!
14. Hotel Sanders
I thought this was a gorgeous upscale hotel! I discovered it had lots of luxurious boutique charm with a warm, home-like atmosphere, elegant mid-century decor, soft earthy tones, vintage furnishings, rich textiles, and a blend of Scandinavian and colonial influences, all set within a very stylish townhouse.
My guest room was equally chic, with thoughtful touches and comforts and featured a luxurious bed, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and organic toiletries. I also thought providing the slippers and kimonos for that extra touch of luxury was a really nice touch! I have to admit the standard rooms were compact but the upgraded rooms were more spacious.
I found myself based in the heart of the city, just steps from Nyhavn, the Royal Danish Theatre, and Kongens Nytorv as well as historic landmarks, boutique shopping, and fine dining.
My other favorite highlights included the Sanders Kitchen which served up Mediterranean cuisine with healthy, veggie, and vegan options made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, the tranquil courtyard garden, the on-site cocktail bar, and the Rooftop Conservatory, which featured both lush greenery and superb city views!

- Dining on the creamy pearl barley for dinner and starting the day with Avocado toast washed down with green juice for breakfast!
15. Tivoli Hotel
I really liked this funky and whimsical spot! I actually thought it was a magical place with a fairy-tale-inspired design, modern comforts, a playful Tivoli Gardens-theme, elegant Scandinavian interiors with rich colors, stylish furnishings, and artistic details and family-friendly themed rooms that capture the magic of Copenhagen’s iconic amusement park! I loved that it had a fun, family-friendly yet upscale vibe!
My room had a typical Scandi design, with soundproofing, free WiFi, a flat-screen TV complete with satellite channels, a minibar, and superb city views. I saw that some lower-priced rooms were very compact but the suites and upgraded rooms were more spacious.
I really liked its central location in the Vesterbro district, which was near Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen Central Station, and the waterfront.
I also enjoyed its other amenities which included an indoor swimming pool, a large fitness centre, indoor and outdoor play areas for children, its peaceful Columbine gardens, no less than three onsite restaurants, and two trendy sky bars which had awe-inspiring panoramic city views and great cocktails!
