Badminton
The opening party’s location in the fictional country house of Chimney’s was actually filmed at Badminton House, a historic residence in South Gloucestershire, home to the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort. Netflix viewers may be familiar with the location thanks to scenes filmed for shows including Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte and The Gentleman.
“We wanted romance for Chimneys, and for it to be crumbling but beautiful. And I based a lot of stuff on things like Cecil Beaton’s house, Reddish House, which was crumbling, and had pelargoniums everywhere…”, said director Chris Sweeney. “…Badminton House delivered on that, because it’s a private home, it’s sort of romantically crumbly, but also completely lavish and beautiful. And the people who live there are charming and lovely, and I think that comes across in the home, and that was a real find, because ultimately, most of these incredible houses are not private and available to rent.”
Bristol
Much of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials was filmed across Bristol, with beloved venues standing in for fictional settings remodelled to fit in with the 1920s. The interior of the Seven Dials Nightclub is, in fact, Barrel House, a popular haunt where Detroit-style pizza is sometimes served to the sound of live music. The nightclub’s exterior, stairways and the vicinity utilised the likes of Queens Square, All Saints Street and Clare Street.
