21 best dog-friendly hotels in the UK

At first glance this “life-friendly hotel” in East Sussex appears to have thrown every 2026 hospitality buzzword in the blender: there are communal sauna sessions, a coworking hub, a members’ club, two padel courts, perfect pours of Guinness, and of course, local artisans handcrafting everything from the nubbly linen throws on the bed (textile artists Warp) to the terracotta tiles underfoot (tilemakers Aldershaw, based in nearby woodland). Just as in the hotel’s design motif of the patchwork quilt, it all comes together under the guiding principles of comfort and choice: the pottery sessions and artist residencies, foraging walks and wild swimming, DJ sets and Sunday roasts.

Rooms come in all shapes and sizes and range in categories from Cosy (sleeping two) to the more expansive suites. There are also three private cottages sleeping between six and 10 – the largest, the Lake House, comes with its own garden, lakeside deck and pool table, and there are plans to introduce several Lakeside Cabins. The Restaurant, situated in the hotel’s original conservatory-style dining room, has been given a makeover with a large oval banquette studded with leopard-print cushions and filled with a jungle of real plants, as well as more traditional tables (the corner table is the spot to angle for). Dishes feel fancy but unfussy. When it comes to drinks there’s an interesting wine list showcasing the best of the region’s vineyards; table beer by Brewing Brothers; and gorgeous cocktails in the Green Room, where a Last Port of Call turns out to be a riff on a negroni with chamomile, olive oil and chocolate. Why dogs will love it: There are treats, towels and dog beds in the rooms and bowls and leads available upon request. Dogs are allowed in the library, bar area and on the grounds, and will love the dog-friendly walking routes and pubs nearby.
