Bermuda Is the Fastest-Growing Island for Canadian Travelers Right Now

Bermuda is having a moment with Canadian travelers.

The island is now the fastest-growing destination for visitors from Canada, with travel up nearly 30 percent year over year, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The latest figures show Bermuda welcomed 15,191 Canadian visitors, a 30.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year — a surge that puts the island at the top of the growth list in the Canadian market.

Why Bermuda Is Surging With Canadians

Part of Bermuda’s appeal has always been the easy fit. It’s a quick flight from major Canadian gateways, the time zone is convenient, and the island delivers a very specific kind of getaway: pink-sand beaches, cliffside coves, and a polished, walkable capital in Hamilton where you can actually build a trip around restaurants, bars, and harborfront afternoons.

The difference right now is momentum.

Bermuda has been showing up more in the way Canadians are traveling: shorter escapes, long weekends, and trips that blend beach time with a city-style hotel stay. It’s an island where you can spend a morning in the water at Horseshoe Bay, be back in town for a late lunch, and still have a dinner reservation without feeling like you’re planning around distance.

A Different Kind of Island Trip

Bermuda doesn’t feel like a traditional tropical destination. The architecture is different. The pace is different. The water is different, too — cooler, clearer, and often a deeper shade of blue.

The island’s strongest travel identity has always been its mix of beach and refinement, and that’s exactly what makes the growth numbers feel believable. Bermuda is an easy sell for Canadians who want an island trip that feels calm, safe, and simple, without giving up good hotels, strong dining, and the kind of service that leans more boutique than mega-resort.

What to Do When You Get There

The classic Bermuda trip still holds.

You can spend a full day on the South Shore, moving between beaches like Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay. You can take the ferry across the harbor, explore St. George’s, and end the afternoon with a Dark ’n Stormy and a plate of fish sandwiches somewhere near the water.

Bermuda is also one of the best islands in the region for a trip that doesn’t require a rental car. Between ferries, buses, and taxis, it’s easy to base yourself in Hamilton and move around without turning the logistics into a project.

Where to Stay

If you want a classic Bermuda resort experience, Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa remains one of the island’s most storied stays. Set on a narrow peninsula with water on nearly every side, it offers a quieter, resort-forward escape with multiple beaches, a full spa, and a setting that feels removed without being remote.

If you’d rather stay in the center of things, the Hamilton Princess puts you right on the harbor in the island’s capital. It’s an easy base for restaurants, shopping, ferries, and nightlife, and works well if you want a Bermuda trip that mixes beach days with a more urban, walkable feel.
