Peru Wins 38 Medals at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition


In a time when good news lifts the collective spirit, Peru has one more reason to celebrate: 38 national spirits were awarded at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025, one of the most respected stages in the world of distillation.

Peruvian producers took home Double Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across various categories, including Pisco, Gin, Rum, Whiskey, and Agave spirits.

Aqará’s Agave Spirits Shine Bright

Aqará, known for its pioneering agave distillates made in Peru, stood out with a Double Gold for its Agave & Arrayán spirit—crafted in collaboration with culinary research team Mater. Additional Gold Medals were awarded to their AgrestePlateado, and Rosa Huandoy (infused with raspberries). The ReposadoRito, and Sortilegio varieties won Silver, and their non-alcoholic spirit Refugio received a Bronze.

Pisco Producers Take the Podium

Viñas Queirolo led the pisco category with an impressive haul:

  • Double Gold for Intipalka Pisco ItaliaSantiago Queirolo Acholado, and Intipalka Acholado.
  • Gold for Intipalka Mosto Verde TorontelIntipalka Mosto Verde AcholadoDon Santiago Mosto Verde Torontel, and Intipalka Quebranta.
  • Silver for Santiago Queirolo Quebranta and Don Santiago Mosto Verde Quebranta.

Other standout pisco producers included:

  • Bodega San Martín, awarded Double Gold for its Mosto Verde Torontel and recognized for its Brandy Mosto Verde XO.
  • Gran Paso, based in Pisco, won Double Gold for its Mosto Verde ItaliaMosto Verde Torontel, and Pisco Puro Quebranta, and Silver for Mosto Verde Albilla.
  • Pisco Patrimonio, awarded a Double Gold.

Whiskey, Rum, and Gin Also Earn High Praise

Don Michael Distillery, based in the Andes, continues to impress:

  • Gold for Black Whiskey and Black Whiskey Single Barrel.
  • Bronze for its Andean Gin.

From La Libertad, Cartavio rums earned:

  • Double Gold for Ron XO.
  • Gold for Gran Solera and Solera.
  • Silver for Reserva.

In Lambayeque, Ron Millonario also stood out:

  • Gold for Ron XO.
  • Silver for its Aniversario 10Aniversario 50, and Kuytchi editions.

Two more Peruvian gins joined the winners’ list:

  • Lima Distillery, with a Silver for 1535 Gin.
  • De Cajón Gin Peruano, awarded Bronze.
