Belize Is Reinventing the Dive Festival With Legendary Reefs, Marine Conservation, and a Sustainability Mission
You’re drifting just above a coral wall, sunlight cutting down into the blue, parrotfish flashing past in quick bursts of color. Ahead, a sea turtle rises with deliberate grace. It’s a familiar dive in Belize, but this September there’s something different — something deeper.
Belize, home to the planet’s second-largest barrier reef, is introducing a dive experience unlike any other. From Sept. 24–27, 2025, San Pedro, Ambergris Caye will host Beyond Blue – Belize’s Great Dive of Sustainability, a first-of-its-kind summit that fuses exploration with marine conservation.
Diving Into the Movement
This isn’t just another dive trip. Beyond Blue is designed to connect divers with the story beneath the surface — the urgent work being done to protect Belize’s reef, its atolls, and the vibrant marine life that depends on them. Days are spent in the water, evenings in conversation. Expert-led sessions will reveal the latest on Belize’s conservation efforts, from coral restoration to marine reserve protection, with divers heading out the next day to see those initiatives firsthand.
Iconic Dives, New Perspectives
The itinerary features some of the country’s most legendary underwater sites:
- A one-tank dive at The WIT, the sunken ship that’s become a haven for coral and marine life.
- A two-tank dive at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, where divers move through channels crowded with eagle rays, nurse sharks and schools of snapper.
It’s a chance to witness Belize’s sustainability story not just in words, but in living color beneath the waves.
Packages for Every Diver
With space capped at just 50 certified divers, Beyond Blue is a deliberately intimate gathering. Packages include:
- Full Package ($1,289) – accommodations on Ambergris Caye, double occupancy.
- Shared Experience Package ($499) – two experiences with shared lodging.
- Local Diver Package ($390) – for certified divers already vacationing in Belize who want to join without accommodations.
The Spirit of Ambergris Caye
When you surface, the setting is as inspiring as the dives themselves. San Pedro hums with energy, from beachside bars and evening barbecues to laid-back island charm. It’s the kind of place where days flow naturally from reef to shore, always with the Caribbean Sea in view.
Beyond Blue is more than a summit — it’s a movement. A gathering of divers, conservationists, and ocean lovers who believe that exploration comes with responsibility. It’s where the act of diving becomes both an adventure and a statement of purpose.
