Best spas in London 2026: Luxury day spas to visit
Best spa in London for: science-backed wellness
Any jetsetting spa geek looking for something beyond the essential oils will already be familiar with Austria’s Lanserhof, one of the world’s top medical spas with a sister mini-centre on Dover Street. While it’s all old-school Mayfair brick on the outside, Lanserhof at the Arts Club’s ultramodern interiors are home to six floors offering everything from physiotherapy to medi-gym sessions and vitamin infusions. (Not to mention, a killer massage). To call this place a spa would be doing it a serious injustice, given its doctor-led approach to health and longevity; it’s really a wellness clinic that feels indulgent, due to the fact that you’re making a serious yet enjoyable investment in your health.
Guests here will undergo an in-depth, full-body analysis (the diagnostic process includes an MRI scan), before beginning an ultra-personalised program. You can expect anything from acupuncture, cryotherapy and tailored exercise classes (in a small but what might be the loveliest studio I have come across in the city), to shockwave therapy. Medical doctors, naturopaths and nutritionists are available for consultation and are the fabric of the team behind these programmes.
When it comes to health, it feels rare to be able to address all areas of improvement under the same roof, but Lanserhof analyses pretty much anything from deficiencies to bone health. Seemingly, the single thing they don’t have is their own laboratory – though they’ll take samples in-house and be back with snappy results, and tailored programmes to follow.
While memberships range from corporate to overseas packages, the full membership is most recommended to London residents, and begins with a multi-dimensional assessment including an in-house GP consultation, movement, spine and musculoskeletal assessments, infusion therapy and a kick-off personal training session. You’ll then get unlimited club, gym and studio class access – with some guest passes to boot.
Treatment to book
A bespoke massage followed by a vitamin drip. This was my first-ever infusion, and I don’t do well with needles, but I felt exceptionally calm sitting in the chair – and can confirm my evening here helped me nip a looming cold in the bud.
Insider tip
It sounds overwhelming, but it isn’t. Information is power, and this place is about giving you the information you need about your body and how to proceed. As I was walking to the pool, passing picture frames hanging on the walls of the doctors and medical professionals behind the whole operation, I genuinely felt I was in good hands. Tamara Southward
