Delta Air Lines Is Adding New Nonstop Flights to Nassau, The Bahamas This Winter

Nassau is heading into the winter season with a major boost in air service, as Delta prepares to launch and expand several nonstop routes from key U.S. cities. Beginning Dec. 20, travelers will see new direct connections from the Upper Midwest, expanded daily service from Detroit and fresh Saturday flights from Boston and New York’s LaGuardia Airport. It marks one of Delta’s most significant Nassau expansions in years, strengthening access during the Caribbean’s busiest travel period.

It’s a huge boost for a vibrant destination that has become arguably the premier experiential getaway in the Caribbean, from its position as a culinary capital to a growing cocktail scene.

The Experience
For travelers, the new routes reduce connections and open easier weekend and holiday getaway options. The flights are timed for winter and early spring, giving visitors more flexibility for shorter stays, weeklong vacations and peak-season escapes. The added lift also supports rising demand for Nassau’s major resort areas — including Paradise Island and Cable Beach — where occupancy routinely spikes from December through April.

The Story
Delta’s Nassau schedule will shift significantly beginning 20 Dec. 2025. The airline will introduce new nonstop service from Minneapolis, giving the Twin Cities a direct Caribbean connection on Saturdays throughout the winter.

Detroit, one of Delta’s strongest Midwest hubs, will see its Nassau flights expand to daily service beginning the same day, creating one of the most robust Upper Midwest–Bahamas links for the season.

Two additional gateways will join the schedule next year: Boston–Nassau and New York LaGuardia–Nassau, both operating on Saturdays. The focus on weekend frequencies targets high-demand leisure travel while broadening the airline’s Northeast footprint.

Where To Stay
Travelers arriving on the new routes will find a growing lineup of hotels in Nassau and on nearby Paradise Island. Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau continues to anchor the redevelopment of Nassau’s waterfront with multiple pools, a marina, family-friendly amenities and direct access to the harborfront. The recently-transformed British Colonial — one of the island’s most storied hotels — offers a more historic setting downtown, with updated interiors, a private beach and close proximity to Nassau’s restaurants, shopping and cultural sites.

Why It Matters
The expanded lift strengthens Nassau’s position for the upcoming winter season, particularly for resorts that rely on convenient U.S. connectivity. The Minneapolis launch and Detroit expansion open new access points from the Upper Midwest, while the Boston and LaGuardia flights give Northeast travelers additional nonstop weekend options.

How To Get There
Delta’s new and expanded Nassau routes begin later this month, with Saturday service from Minneapolis through the winter and daily Detroit service running into the spring. The Boston and LaGuardia Saturday flights debut next year and will operate during peak winter travel.
