Guide to Windsor and Ascot: where to stay, where to eat and best things to do
Adventure Play, Savill Garden
An offshoot of Saville Garden is the epic, and relatively new Adventure Play, which is built into the woodland and suits children from as young as two and as old as around 12. Hidden from the outside, it’s hard to guess whether a ticket behind its doors is worthwhile, but rest assured, a two-hour session here is suited to all ages, so if you’ve got a group that spans ages, everyone will be happy. In fact, the best part about it for me was that, unlike other places where adults sit on the sidelines, I was able to get involved with my children’s exploration, too. Take your own snacks or shop from the on-site cafe to fuel the fun. Book your tickets here.
Address: Wick Lane, Englefield Green, Egham TW20 0UJ
Price: children from £13, adults from £10
Legoland Windsor
Elsewhere, there’s Legoland, the famous family-friendly resort based on a classic kids’ (and adults’) toy. Visit for the day or book the on-site hotel to really make the most of it, and enjoy the rides, the model towns and the entertainment that runs throughout the day. Book your tickets here.
Address: Winkfield Road, Windsor SL4 4AY
Price: from £34 for a day ticket
Lapland UK, Ascot
If you’re quick off the mark, and ready to think about Christmas as early as March, you might just bag yourself a ticket to Lapland in Ascot. I’m yet to take my brood, but its reputation speaks volumes. It’s been such a success that it’s opened a branch in Manchester, too. Time it right in childhood, and it might just buy you an extra few years of magic. Follow the instagram account to stay up to date on ticket release dates.
