It’s Getting Easier for Canadians to Fly to Belize

Belize’s growing profile as a winter sun destination for Canadian travelers is getting a significant boost this year, thanks to expanded seasonal service from WestJet.

Beginning Oct. 30, WestJet will relaunch its Belize flights from both Toronto and Calgary — this time starting earlier, running longer, and adding more frequency than ever before. The service will now extend through May 10, 2026, bringing a 45 percent increase in total seat capacity compared to last season.

“WestJet’s expanded commitment to Belize reflects the growing demand we continue to see from Canadian travelers,” said Hon. Anthony Mahler, Belize’s Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations. “With more frequency and more seats, Belize is becoming even more accessible for winter getaways and extended stays.”

From Calgary, flights will begin with twice-weekly service in late October, ramping up to three weekly flights during the heart of the winter season before tapering off again in spring. Travelers from Toronto will see an even larger expansion, with service beginning twice weekly, increasing to four times a week from mid-December through April, and continuing into May with steady connections.

The longer season and added frequency not only strengthen Belize’s connectivity from both Western and Eastern Canada but also make it easier for travelers from across North America to connect to the country’s beaches, rainforests and barrier reef. The timing means Canadians can now plan earlier winter holidays and stretch their spring getaways deeper into May, while the additional Monday flights offer more flexibility for both shorter visits and extended stays.

The news comes as Air Canada is also expanding its presence in Belize. The airline will launch a new direct route from Montreal to Belize City on Dec. 8, followed by the return of its Toronto–Belize City service on Dec. 12, ensuring even greater winter connectivity from two of Canada’s largest hubs. Together, the expanded schedules from WestJet and Air Canada mark an unprecedented level of Canadian access to Belize.
