Most beautiful beaches on the Amalfi Coast, as picked by our experts
When it comes to beautiful beaches, the Amalfi Coast has plenty to offer. The glitzy coastline has long remained a favourite among travellers seeking la dolce vita – everyone from Sophia Loren and Jackie O to Kylie Jenner, Beyonce and Angelina Jolie famously adore this glamorous region. It’s not hard to see why. This place oozes Italian charm, with glittering waves gently lapping rocky shorelines, mouthwatering smells wafting out of seaside trattorias, and tumbling bougainvillaea cascading onto the roofs of beach clubs.
Travellers visiting the Amalfi Coast tend to split their days in half. Mornings are for exploring – particularly in the summer months when it gets too hot to clamber up the steep staircases, weaving between the village. There are plenty of beautiful towns dotted across the Amalfi Coast, but there’s nothing quite like returning to base for an afternoon lazing by the shore, sunbathing and paddling in the shimmering sea, feasting on spaghetti alle vongole and, of course, people watching. From long stretches of sandy beach to little rocky coves, these are our most beautiful beaches the Amalfi Coast has to offer.

Marina Grande, Positano
Perhaps the most recognisable beach in all of Amalfi, the Marina Grande has long drawn in snap-happy Instagrammers, travel photographers and bucket-list seeking travellers. The beach itself isn’t the prettiest, but the ice cream-hued village of Positano that tumbles onto the sand makes up for it. There are a handful of beach clubs here; we recommend La Scogliera, which is the one farthest from the ferry docks.

Elbow your way past crowds of tourists buying ferry tickets and the kiosks, and you’ll come across a steep path. This is the Via Positanesi d’America, leading up to Fornillo Beach. Locals tend to favour this beach over others dotted around the Positano coastline – just past the old Torre Trasìta watchtower, it’s a pretty sandy stretch with azure waters and a vast rock face as a backdrop. There are a couple of beach bars selling drinks and nibbles, too.
