Planning a Bonaire Vacation? The Island Is Getting More Expensive
It’s one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Caribbean in the last few years. But as Bonaire continues its tourism surge, hotel prices are starting to rise.
Hotel stays in Bonaire are costing travelers more in 2025, in other words. Average daily rates in Bonaire rose by 11.5 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association provided to Caribbean Journal.
Revenue per available room (RevPAR) was up 13.4 percent, while occupancy increased just 1.6 percent.
The figures point to a pricing-led performance, with hotels relying on higher rates rather than a surge in bookings to drive revenue growth.
According to BONHATA CEO Veroesjka de Windt, the data reflects both resilience and vulnerability in the tourism sector, with rising rates sustaining performance amid only modest changes in volume.
The number of stayover visitors did grow year over year, with approximately 45,000 arrivals in Q2 2025, up from around 41,000 in Q2 2024. Still, the small uptick in occupancy suggests that either hotel supply has expanded or that the increased visitation has been spread out across more properties or longer stays.
