Porter Is Launching New Flights to Puerto Vallarta From Three Canadian Cities

The skies between Canada and Mexico are about to get a little busier—and a lot more convenient. This winter, Porter Airlines is expanding its footprint in sun destinations with new nonstop service to Puerto Vallarta from Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton. It’s a move that offers travelers in Ontario multiple new ways to reach one of Mexico’s most beloved Pacific beach destinations.

The first route begins November 14, when Porter will launch three-times-weekly service from Toronto Pearson International Airport. In December, two more routes follow: twice-weekly flights from Ottawa starting December 13, and twice-weekly flights from Hamilton beginning December 18. All flights will be operated on Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, a jet configured with 132 seats and no middle seats — part of the airline’s push to offer a more refined economy experience, including complimentary snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free onboard Wi-Fi.

This is the latest expansion of Porter’s growing portfolio of sun destinations, which also includes new flights to Cancún, Nassau, and Liberia, Costa Rica. For Canadian travelers, Puerto Vallarta stands out as a warm-weather escape with natural beauty, cultural charm, and a laid-back Pacific coast atmosphere. Known for its golden beaches, vibrant waterfront promenade, and mountain-meets-ocean setting, Puerto Vallarta offers an authentic Mexican experience without sacrificing resort comfort.

The timing of the routes is no accident. By adding service starting in mid-November and mid-December, Porter is giving travelers the chance to skip early winter and head straight into sunshine.

For the city of Puerto Vallarta and the state of Jalisco, the new service is another step in deepening its relationship with the Canadian travel market.

Nearly half a million Canadian travelers visited Jalisco last year, and that number is expected to rise with new direct connections like these. The launch also strengthens Porter’s position as a player in the competitive Canada-to-Mexico market, historically dominated by larger leisure carriers.

These new flights underscore a broader trend: travelers are looking for convenience, comfort, and nonstop access to warm-weather destinations. Porter is betting that Puerto Vallarta, with its distinct culture and Pacific charm, will be at the top of the list this winter.
