Sydney Airport adds more delightful pre-flight bites
Having elevated preflight dining in 2023 with Luke Mangan’s standout Luke’s Bistro & Bar, Sydney Airport is now bringing many more upscale eateries to Terminal 3, home to Qantas and its regional arm QantasLink.
Premium Italian, Japanese, Cantonese, Thai and Mexican dining will line up alongside a clutch of cafes, ‘fast-casual’ burgers and even a dessert bar across the coming months.
First up is Maggio’s – a much-loved Italian pasticceria from Sydney’s lower north shore, where long lines of customers still form outside the Cammeray cafe-restaurant opened by the Maggio brothers in 1998.
“Opening Maggio’s at Sydney Airport is an incredibly proud moment for us,” says Andrew Maggio.
Travellers can look forward to sampling Maggio’s poached eggs served in a fresh tomato and basil sauce, chilli scrambled eggs with grilled broccolini and feta, homemade lasagna and panini, and slices of rustic pizza, alongside hearty sandwiches, cannoli, ricotta cheesecakes and chocolate tortes.
Maggio’s anchors the first stage of Sydney Airport’s new Terminal 3 dining precinct, which Sydney Airport says is about “resetting the tone of the domestic terminal and introducing travellers to a new standard of food and dining experience.”
The weeks ahead are slated to see:
- Espresso@T3: consistent, fast espresso for morning flyers
- Icebergs, offering coastal Italian dining from one of Australia’s most celebrated restaurants
- Lotus Dumpling Bar: contemporary Cantonese dumplings and share plates
- Taste of Thai: vibrant, authentic Thai dishes
- Slim’s Quality Burgers, serving up ‘fast casual’ fare with retro flair
- Sushi Platter: made-to-order sushi, bento and Japanese favourites
- Top Juice: fresh juices, wraps, salads and snacks
And from the start of 2026, T3 will continue to tempt with:
- Loulou: a boulangerie café delivering premium pastries and classics
- Tres Tacos: a new Mexican street-food concept from renowned chef Frank Camorra
- Stitch Coffee: a minimalist café with a focus on high-quality coffee
- RaRa Ramen: the cult-favourite Japanese ramen lands at SYD with rich broths and handmade noodles
- Azúcar: a Latin-inspired dessert bar
- Inbound Cafe: a casual café with comforting classics
- Krispy Kreme, for your grab-and-go coffee and doughnuts
If you haven’t been counting, that’s a grand total of 15 new food and beverage outlets.
“This precinct has been thoughtfully curated to showcase some of Sydney’s most loved names in hospitality,” says Mark Zaouk, Sydney Airport’s Group Executive Commercial.
“T3 Domestic is not just a terminal, it’s a gateway for millions of passengers to Australia’s vibrant domestic travel market, and we’re transforming the dining and speciality retail areas by securing iconic brands that reflect the premium offering T3 is known for.”
The upgraded dining precinct forms a key part of the wider T3 transformation, which also includes “enhanced wayfinding” to help passengers and visitors easily make their way around the terminal.
“Environmentally friendly furniture and fittings will be featured throughout with additional greenery to create a relaxing setting,” the airport promises.
