The La Concha Resort in Puerto Rico
Long celebrated as a beacon of mid-century glamour on Condado Beach, La Concha Resort has taken its next bold step — joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection. This is more than a rebrand; it’s a bold reimagining that marries heritage with contemporary luxury.
La Concha has always been a symbol of seaside sophistication, its sweeping curves and iconic shell-shaped architecture a silhouette on Puerto Rico’s skyline since the late 1950s. Now, under the Autograph flag, the resort gains Marriott Bonvoy visibility and fresh momentum in the global lifestyle hotel scene.
A Puerto Rican Icon Joins a Global Stage
That legendary shell-shaped restaurant space has been reborn as Levant, the first Puerto Rico project from Michelin-starred Chef Michael White. Opened earlier this year, Levant brings elevated Eastern Mediterranean flavors paired with local produce and breathtaking ocean views. Yet, the changes go well beyond one restaurant. White’s restaurants are spectacular, whether they’re in Nassau (the exceptional Paranza, already one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the Caribbean) or Coral Gables with Mika, where I ate last week and was blown away.
More Than Just Fine Dining
La Concha’s transformation is sweeping. The newly reimagined Suite Tower introduces 238 suites with living areas, marble-floored bathrooms, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling ocean views, all styled in a calming palette of whites, bone, gray, and teal. Sculptural elements inspired by Puerto Rican flora and stocked stainless-steel bar carts featuring local rum add an unmistakable sense of place.
Culinary diversity has blossomed: Tekka Bar, a lively hand-roll and sake counter, launched in late 2024, while AQA Oceanfront, a three-meal, ocean-view restaurant, is slated to debut this summer. At the Lobby Bar, guests can now enjoy a cocktail-personalization program, choosing from five botanical infusions to reflect their mood — whether adventurous, introspective, or party-ready.
Wellness has also been enhanced with the debut of Elemara Spa & Salon, which features hydrotherapy circuits, a yoga deck, and sea-view pools. Family programming has been refreshed, artsy play areas added, and nightlife remains a focal point with Fifty-Eight nightclub and Casino del Mar’s BetMGM Sportsbook anchoring La Concha’s after-dark energy.
Why It Matters
For Marriott, La Concha becomes a standout property within a brand known for individuality. For Puerto Rico, it’s proof that legacy and luxury can converge, reaffirming the island’s place on the world stage. For visitors? It’s a renewed La Concha — timeless in silhouette, modern in every experience.
What It Costs
The new-look La Concha has rates for just $234 per night right now — a great value in buzzing San Juan.
