Swiss Airlines’ First Class suites include two-metre long beds

Swiss Air First Class

Slatted wooden doors slide back to reveal Swiss Air’s new First Grand Suites, which recently debuted Swiss’ new Airbus A350s flying between Zurich and Boston. More akin to a hotel room than capsule-like business-class seats, the cappucino-and-cream spaces are hidden behind 1.8-metre-high walls, with anti-jetlag lighting, individual temperature controls, and space for working, dining, and stretching out on broad, two-metre-long beds. Service includes a selection of after take-off amuse-bouches, vermouth and elderflower cocktails designed by Zurich’s multi-award-winning IGNIV Bar, a trolley of curated Swiss cheeses, and boxes of pralines, as well as a three-course meal. First Class passengers are also offered a choice of long-sleeve or short-sleeve pyjamas in burgundy or navy blue, fluffy slippers and Sisley lotions and creams. If you’re travelling with a loved one, you also have the option of combining two suites into one perfectly private cocoon.

British Airways First Class

Having lagged behind in terms of its luxury products for the last few years, British Airways looks set to regain some clout with the introduction of its new First Class Suites in 2026. Set to debut across the Airbus A380 fleet in the middle of the year, the mini-private residences have been completely redesigned in navy blue Muirhead Scottish leather, custom wools, silvery Concorde-inspired lamps and wood veneer, with quilted headboards above the large lie-flat beds. Doors close electronically, providing enough privacy to change in and out of your White Company pyjamas. Other clever features include a range of lighting modes, wireless charging pads, and a mini-bar stuffed with snacks and drinks. Routes are yet to be announced, but BA’s key A380 routes include Los Angeles, Miami, Dubai and Singapore.
