These Cape Town parks reached full capacity
With Christmas Day serving clear skies and pleasant weather conditions, it seems many have taken to the outdoors to gather with their loved ones and make the most of the sunny festive season, reports Cape {town} Etc.
This comes as South African National Parks (SANParks) announced the closure of two of its locations as a result of reaching full capacity.
‘The Boulders Penguin Colony beach has reached capacity and is now closed for further entries,’ said SANParks in a Facebook post this morning, adding that penguin viewing, however, remains open. This afternoon, SANParks once again took to Facebook with a similar announcement:
‘The Newlands Forest has reached full capacity for the day, and entry has therefore been closed to additional visitors,‘ the organisation said.’We kindly encourage visitors to consider alternative picnic sites within Table Mountain National Park.
SANParks added that access to the Boulders Penguin Colony beach area will be permitted once capacity allows.
Alternative picnic sites suggestions:
- Silvermine
- Cape of Good Hope
- Tokai Picnic Area
- Oudekraal Picnic Site
Update:
Visitors travelling to the Cape of Good Hope are advised to expect delays at the entrance gate due to high traffic congestion, according to SANParks.
