This Caribbean Four Seasons Resort Has a Secret Overwater Bar That’s Only Open for Sunset

It’s never crowded here. It’s just you and the ocean, you and the ultimate sunset. And your favorite cocktail.

Somehow, even at one of the top resorts in the Caribbean, a full-fledged overwater bar still manages to feel like your own private watering hole.

This is the best-kept secret at the Four Season Nevis, the sprawling deck-platform a few minutes-walk from the beach that is one of the most spectacular settings in the entire country.

“I don’t know why [never crowded],” bartender Brandon tells me. “People can see me from a distance. They can see the drinks.”

Brandon is the expert barman here.

And when you get here, it’s even more striking, particularly at sunset, when the biggest challenge is choosing between one of the best sunsets you’ve ever seen or the towering beauty of cloud-sheathed Nevis Peak.

There’s a full bar here, although I’d suggest the rum punch, a red-orange hybrid that seems to go rather well with the color of the sky at 7 PM.

It’s such a secret that you won’t even find this overwater bar on the resort’s website. All you have to do is make the stroll on the dock out to the platform when the bar is open, which is every day at 5PM (just before sunset, or comfortably before it, depending on the time of year).

Sunset or otherwise, it’s almost indescribably beautiful — hundreds of feet off shore, a perfectly-crafted drink, panoramic ocean. There’s a magical quality to it all, the sort of moment you don’t even want to grab your phone for.

You just want to keep it stored away as an all-time-great memory. And then go back the next night.
