This City Was Just Named the Most Luxurious to Live In

Paris is always a good idea, and a new study found it’s also the most luxurious place to live in the whole world.

The city of lights boasts more than 800 fine dining restaurants and more than 140 five-star hotels per every 38 square miles, according to a study by online crypto casino JB that was shared with Travel + Leisure, making it the world’s best city for luxury living. The city also has an abundance of luxury stores with more than 150 per 38 square miles, and even has 7,300 millionaires per 100,000 residents.

“Paris positions itself as an all-inclusive destination for those looking for luxury experiences in Europe,” JB wrote in its study.

The French city has something for everyone with incredible ice skating and holiday markets in the winter to iconic outdoor cafe seating and vibrant floral displays in the warmer months.

Paris was followed by the Australian city of Melbourne, which had 279 fine dining restaurants and 125 five-star hotels per every 38 square miles. In fact, Paris and Melbourne are the only two cities on the top 10 list with more than 100 luxury hotels per capita.

Zurich came in third, but boasted the most millionaires per 100,000 residents of all the cities on the list with 17,700. Miami and Milan rounded out the top five.

Of all the top 10 cities, the United States had the highest representation with three: Miami at No. 4, New York City at No. 6, and Los Angeles at No. 7.

According to the company, there are nearly 55 million people around the world who are worth at least $1 million. To complete its study, JB looked at six lifestyle indicators: how many millionaires and billionaires live there, the amount of fine dining restaurants, the amount of five-star hotels, the number of luxury retail stores, and the amount of casinos per square kilometer.

“Ten years ago, building a million-dollar net worth required inheritance or decades of traditional employment,” a JB spokesperson said in a statement shared with T+L. “Today, cryptocurrency gains, stock market growth, and digital business opportunities have accelerated wealth accumulation for younger demographics. These new millionaires travel frequently, as they are young and want to experience more. This shift has created demand for cities offering active lifestyle experiences with rich entertainment options.”

This is the top 10 list of the most luxurious cities to live in around the world, according to JB.

  3. Zurich
  4. Miami
  5. Milan
  6. New York City
