Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Themes: The end of a cycle, balancing fantasy with reality, knowing when and how to change course without giving up on a dream, letting go of emotional baggage.

How can we tune in to the power of the 12 August total solar eclipse?

First up, you can watch it happen, if you find yourself in the right part of the world on 12 August. Secondly, make sure you pay attention.

Solar eclipses occur on the new moon, a time when the mystically minded might typically choose to set future intentions or write a wish list to the universe. During an eclipse, however, it’s thought to be better to take a step back from active intention setting and instead simply tune in and see what comes up for you.

You might notice that the same thought or idea keeps niggling at you, or you might repeatedly see a sign that makes you reconsider your options in life. Your dreams might show you something you realise you need to know or a life plot-twist might appear out of nowhere, redirecting your attention and focus. Trust the process might be a cliché but it’s a cliché for good reason where eclipse season is concerned. Watch, wait and know that what is meant for you will find you during a solar eclipse.

Where can I see this summer’s total solar eclipse?

How much of the August eclipse you’ll see depends on where in the world you are when it happens, but astrophiles in northern Spain, the Balearics, northern Portugal, Greenland and parts of Iceland will find themselves perfectly located for the full experience as all these spots are on the path of totality.

That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see elsewhere, though. The UK, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, northern Italy, southern Germany, Scandinavia, parts of Morocco and Algeria, along with the rest of Spain and Portugal, will experience a dramatic partial eclipse with at least 80 per cent (and in most cases much more) of the sun covered.

You can check out what the eclipse will look like where you are here.
