Where is hot in Europe in February? 9 dazzling spots that sizzle
While Europe isn’t short of destinations basking in mild temperatures, there’s no denying that fewer places warrant packing swimwear. The sun-soaked Canary Island of Tenerife, off the coast of West Africa, is one exception. There’s plenty to do on the occasional overcast day, from the colourful Los Cristianos Street Market on Sundays to exploring the Parque Rural de Anaga nature reserve. For the most part, you’ll be baking on sandy swathes as the temperatures climb towards the mid-20s.
Where to stay: The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama, is one of Europe’s most colourful stays. Take a dip in one of the countless swimming pools, break a sweat in the sprawling fitness and spa area, or listen to the crashing waves on the exclusive beach area. Alternatively, plan a future trip around one of the island’s most exciting new openings. You’ll have to wait until 2026 for a February stay at Royal Hideaway Corales Villas – the property opens in March 2025 – but the stylish villas, incredible food and breathtaking sea views are well worth it.

Seville is always a good idea – even more so when mild temperatures allow for sightseeing that won’t leave you soaked through. A long weekend is enough to top up the vitamin D reserves over long, sunny lunches, offering a chance to preview the spring and summer wardrobe. There are plenty of things to do across the city: soak up the sunshine on a bike ride through the parks, explore the Old Town on foot, or simply feast your way through one of Spain’s tastiest corners.
Where to stay: For an affordable boutique stay with lashings of opulence – and super-snazzy interiors – look no further than Hotel Boutique Triana House. Alternatively, splurge on Hotel Alfonso XIII, one of the city’s most extravagant addresses. See our guide to the best hotels in Seville for more inspiration.
