Where is hot in Europe in October? 15 sizzling destinations

When considering where is hot in October in Europe, there are plenty of balmy spots we considered to help you all extend the summer. As our streets turn varicoloured shades of chestnut and oak, littered by leaves as the trees send them on their annual pirouettes downwards, sunseekers utilise their available annual leave for a final, sun-kissed “Hoorah” and head further south for daiquiri-sipping sessions on sunloungers. The start of the month is best for guaranteed sunshine and lower prices – costs can peak at the very end of the season, thanks to school half-term holidays. There are city break destinations, such as Malta’s capital, Valletta, and Cádiz, an Andalusian city that very rarely sees its residents in the puffier coat variety. Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, captivates culture vultures in October as a city-wide festival celebrates the country’s fascinating heritage, while Ibiza offers much more beyond the hedonistic closing parties. Whether you’re seeking plump sun loungers, frozen drinks and fresh seafood, or you’re simply eager to don short-sleeve attire and sandals for one final time this year, this is our pick of the best warm October destinations in Europe.

Is Greece warm in October?

While temperatures in the northernmost regions of Greece plummet towards the end of October, the south coast of the mainland and the Greek islands below retain warm temperatures late into the month. Is it hot in Italy in October?

Similarly to Greece, we’re big fans of Italy in October. The summer crowds are easing off and, while it’s still hot in October, it’s not too hot to embark on day trips, hike through national parks and lounge on the beaches. If in doubt, head for the islands – the average daily temperatures of between 19°C and 24°C on Sicily’s beautiful beach are *chef’s kiss*.
